Venue 13 is looking for an experienced, creative Marketing & Social Media Assistant to support the promotion of our 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe programme.
This is a freelance, part-time seasonal role ideal for someone with an easy-going, whimsical and creative personality, strong background in social media content creation, ideally with experience as an influencer or content creator, and an interest in the arts.
About the Role
You’ll support the delivery of marketing campaigns across multiple shows, helping bring productions to life online through engaging, high-quality content and strategic social media activity.
You’ll also play a key role in content capture during the Fringe, attending selected performances and helping shape how our shows are seen and shared.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Content Creation
- Plan, create, and schedule content across platforms (META, TikTok, Youtube and Bluesky)
- Produce short-form video and posts (Reels, TikToks, Stories)
- Capture behind-the-scenes and live show content
Content Output Expectations
- July: approx. 12 posts per week, more if appropriate
- August: between 3 to 8 posts per day (scheduled in advance, mix of video, stories, carousels and static content on various shows), based on plan and strategy for each show.
Marketing & Campaign Support
- Assist in delivering social media campaigns for multiple shows
- Support copywriting and post formatting
- Help coordinate marketing timelines and content rollouts
Artist & Campaign Collaboration
- Attend selected meetings with artists and productions
- Assist in shaping show-specific marketing strategies
- Connect with Artist Liaison to ensure artists provide content and meet deadlines
Fringe Festival (August Focus)
- Attend shows up-to 3 days per week (eg. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays)
- Capture and create live content (some evening work required to cover all the shows)
- Support real-time social media activity and promotional posts to boost ticket sales
Influencer & Media Outreach
- Identify and research relevant influencers to attend shows
- Support outreach for:
- Influencer collaborations
- Social media partnerships
- Cross-promotions
- Assist in sourcing interview opportunities and media features
- Leverage existing contacts (desirable)
Who We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Proven experience managing social media accounts
- Strong social video content skills (filming + editing)
- Confident working independently and proactively
- Excellent organisation and communication
Highly Desirable:
- Experience as an influencer type content creator
- Existing network of influencers or media contacts
- Experience securing collaborations, interviews, or press opportunities
- Strong understanding of trends, audience growth, and engagement strategies
Working Pattern
- June/July: 2 days/week (3-5 hours per day – independent work with agreed tasks and online meetings)
- August: 3 days/week (3-5 hours per day with onsite work Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, including some evenings and with in-person expectation on these days- mix of in-person and independent work time)
Total: approx. 120 hours across the contract, equivalent to £15/hour
Payment Schedule:
- Signing/July 1 – £400
- August 1 – £600
- August 15 – £400
- August 29 – £400
