Role overview

Venue 13 is looking for confident, experienced all-rounders to run our on-site food and drink cabin single-handedly across the event, and to feature each day as part of our live show. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role for someone happy working independently, who holds themselves to a high standard, and enjoys being part of a lively, performance-led atmosphere.

The cabin is compact and is staffed by one person at a time, so we need someone self-sufficient who can prepare, serve, sell, and keep the space clean and compliant with minimal supervision. Alongside the cabin work, the role also carries a practical, get-stuck-in side: acting as a general venue assistant and handyperson for occasional pickups of orders and the odd jobs that keep the day running. The ideal candidate will be able to drive and have access to a car which they would be willing to use occasionally for Venue 13 side quests. For those times, which would not be the norm, Venue 13 will the related expenses.

Cabin Duties

  • Cooking pies in the oven and transporting them to the holding point, keeping hold and turnover well managed and temperatures checked throughout the day.
  • Stocking drinks and sandwich fridges, rotating stock and re-stocking accordingly.
  • Operating the soft-serve ice cream machine, including correct setting-up and daily cleaning (full training provided).
  • Handling and serving pre-cooked food safely and in line with food hygiene requirements.
  • Serving customers and processing payments confidently on the card machine.
  • Actively and warmly upselling food, drinks and ice creams to maximise each sale.
  • Keeping accurate temperature check records and cleaning records throughout each shift.
  • Receiving, checking and logging deliveries; storing stock correctly; and restocking as needed.
  • Disposing of waste correctly and keeping the kitchen and cabin clean and fit for optimal use at all times.

Venue Assistantance

Beyond the cabin, the post-holder works with Venue staff to provide general venue assistant and light handywork, helping the day run smoothly. Because some of this may involve helping with a collection of equipment, stock or a delivery, a full, clean driving licence and access to their own vehicle are required. The Venue covers petrol and parking for any journeys it requests. Note the use of the car for Venue tasks would be infrequent.

  • Carrying out collections, orders and pickups of stock or supplies as needed.
  • Placing and following up on orders, and collecting items on the Venue’s behalf.
  • Respond flexibly and willingly to reasonable ad-hoc requests that keep the operation running.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience in a kitchen or similar hands-on food environment.
  • A mature, reliable and self-sufficient approach, able to run the cabin alone and take ownership of standards without supervision.
  • Easy-going, outgoing and genuinely comfortable helping customers make food choices
  • Practical and handy, willing to take on general venue-assistant tasks and ad-hoc jobs as they come up.
  • A current food hygiene certificate, or a willingness to complete one before the role commences – Venue can cover the cost.
  • Confident handling pre-cooked food safely and keeping several temperature checks daily, cleaning and waste records.
  • Comfortable using a card machine and confident, friendly and proactive with customers, including upselling.

Peferred/ Desirable

  • Full, clean driving licence and access to own vehicle, for infrequent collections and pickups.
  • Experience operating soft-serve or similar catering equipment. Full training will be provided, but any experience is always a plus

Pay and terms

  • Rate: £14.00 per hour.
  • Pattern: Scheduled 5h shifts that range from 10:30–20:30, six days per week for the run of the event.
  • Training: Induction on the soft-serve machine is provided. Willingness to complete a Food Hygiene Certificate training
  • Expenses: Petrol and parking reimbursed for any side quests requested by the Venue which involve your car.

Please feel free to send over a CV and a short email to  Vanesa at vkind.arts@gmail.com

You do not need to provide a fancy and stuffy cover letter, but a few lines about how you enjoyed your past relevant experience, your availability, and if you have a car would suffice.
