Vanesa Kelly: Hi, I’m Vanesa Kelly, co-director of Venue 13.

Ian Garrett: And I’m Ian Garrett, the other co-director of Venue 13. And we are so excited to introduce Podcast 13, the brand new podcast from Venue 13.

Vanesa: This first episode is extra special as we’re wrapping up Climate Change Theatre Action 2025. If you’ve joined us this August, you know Venue 13 became a vibrant hub for theatre, food and climate action.

Every day we hosted workshops, tastings, vegan pop-ups and performances that sparked big conversations about art, sustainability and how we live together.

Ian: And right at the heart of it all was Climate Change Theatre Action 2025. We set ourselves a huge challenge to present readings of all 50 short plays from the new anthology.

Audiences gather daily, sometimes in our venues, sometimes in unexpected spaces, to hear urgent stories about our climate future.

Vanesa: Now, with podcast 13, we’re carrying that energy forward. This inaugural episode will complete the cycle by sharing the final plays from this year.

Ian: And this is just the beginning. Each week, we’ll bring you readings from previous anthologies, interviews with playwrights, producers, performers, and others involved with the supporting artists in Scotland’s capital city, debates about sustainability in the arts, and news from Venue 13’s community of artists and food creators.

Vanesa: So whether you’re a fringe regular, a climate activist, a food lover, a technologist, or simply curious about how the arts can spark new ways of thinking about community, equity, and our shared future, this is a space for you. Podcast 13 is where theatre meets sustainability, accessibility, culture, and creativity. A place to imagine what festivals, venues, and artistic communities can be when they put people and the planet first.

Ian: So grab a coffee, settle in and join us for episode one of podcast 13 streaming soon on this very feed, wherever you get your podcasts.

And thanks to everyone who got us through this year’s festival and to Dusty Decks who created the music we’re using and we got it through Epidemic Sound.
