Lora Gold: A Bite at the Opera

A Bite at the Opera is soprano Lora Gold’s Fringe debut. A satirical, sexy, and strangely surreal romp through the beauty and ridiculousness of the opera world, it’s a show with fun and guaranteed gusto aplenty, taking in some of the most well-loved operatic arias along the way. Leave all your operatic misconceptions at the door and expect the unexpected!

Even though Lora is quite a modest person at heart, it is her mission to have a pop at totally reinventing the opera genre, making it a truly universal artform. Motivated by a genuine love both of classical and contemporary music, she is inspired by some of her most favourite musical artistes: an eclectic mix which includes everything from Rossini to Radiohead, Bellini to Blondie.

Having received classical vocal training since the age of sixteen, Lora has been playing piano since she was a tiny, eight-year-old baby. She is now coached by the very talented and beautiful international soprano Anne Williams-King .

Aside from the Edinburgh Festival, Lora can be found singing at concerts, cabarets, and a plethora of other brilliant events across the country. Her performances are exciting affairs: imaginative and atmospheric shows, amazing vocal feats, beautiful melodies, and unexpected contemporary twists are just a few of the wonderful things in store for (hopefully appreciative) audiences
