We’re in full swing of the first week, of our 20th year, here at Venue 13, and loving every minute. So far, we’ve welcomed six productions to the venue, each of which a fantastic piece of brand new theatre.
CalArts Festival Theater are back for their 13th year at Venue 13 – good job they aren’t superstitious! In typical CalArts style, they have three brand new, boundary pushing productions, including hip-hop Ibsen, electroacoustic opera, and live-painting love stories. We’re also welcoming back the Yuffa Fringe team, with their beautifully crafted French-English children’s show here until the 14th.
As well as old friends, we have some new ones. Criminology 303 by Tangent Theatre is already taking Edinburgh by storm, described by The List as “powerful piece with real emotional depth”, and spooking audiences every night of the festival. A Fool’s Paradise are racing through 30 Shakespeare scenes in 60 minutes, in high energy and hilarious fashion, and are with us until the 12th.
And this is just week one… Still four more productions to unveil as the month goes on!
